Good Friday Appeal 2010

E-mail Print PDF

On April 2nd 2010 Ready Set Go was involved in another signature Melbourne event.   The Good Friday Appeal was on again for the 79th time.

It is a huge event for a worthy cause, with a live telecast on Channel Seven airing from Etihad Stadium and around the state for the duration day. We’re very proud to have been involved in helping produce the telethon for Channel Seven for a number of years, helping raise money for the Royal Melbourne Children's Hospital.

The job involves working very closely with the two Channel Seven production teams who create the onscreen content, while we co-ordinate the production as well as the 200-seat telephone room and manage the event as a whole. The set this year was refurbished and repainted at our workshop in Clifton Hill.

The venue itself, while ideal for the event, also presents some specific challenges. Some years we have had a night match in the middle of our production week to contend with. This year, fierce storms in the month prior to the event also caused significant water damage to the function room.

It is a long day for everyone involved and a fairly complex job, but our team of experienced suppliers as well as the excellent Channel Seven production staff ensure that nothing is left to chance and that everything runs smoothly and is up to the standard of live television for a commercial network.

Each year we are struck by the overwhelming generosity of people who donate to the Appeal. This year was no exception and once again Australians donated in record amounts, with the Appeal raising a massive total of $14,462,000. Thank you to everyone who donated and all who were involved.

Shell - Ferrari 450th Race Celebration

In celebration of Shell and Ferrari's 450th race as partners at this year’s Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix, Ready Set Go were asked to produce a cocktail party and dinner at Stokehouse in St Kilda on March 25.

Guests to the event included Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso, and Giancarlo Fisichella the Ferrari race team, Ferrari and Shell executives, and media representatives.

Stokehouse proved to be the perfect venue to hold the event with its close proximity to the race track beautiful views of the bay, not only that, the staff’s excellent service and fantastic food ensured the night  flowed smoothly.

Key speakers from both Shell and Ferrari, including Richard Bracewell; General Manager of Shell Global Sponsorship, Stefano Domenicali; Director of the Ferrari Formula One Team and the Ferrari drivers themselves addressed the guests, highlighting the unique strength of the brand partnership.

At the same time as celebrating the partnership’s past successes, the evening also served as the ideal occasion to announce the renewal of a five year contract between the two companies. Stefano Domicali of Ferrari told the crowd “It’s hard to imagine a more solid partnership. Renewing the contract demonstrates how much Ferrari believes in Shell’s abilities, in its attention to detail, when it comes to technical research and team work. It’s a company where it is the people who count and make the difference.”

A fleet of new and vintage Ferraris at the entrance and iconic images of Ferrari and Shell’s race partnership on the interior provided the occasion with a great sense of history.

Special thanks must also be made to Zagame Automotive who provided their vehicles, including a silver Ferrari California free of charge for the night.

The evening was a great success and Stokehouse's restaurant and courtyard on the picturesque St Kilda foreshore provided the ideal location for the barbecue spread and cocktails well into the night.

E-mail Print PDF

In December 2009, Ready Set Go produced the opening of the Bunker Hill Coles Express and Shell Service Station in Donnybrook. The site represented a major investment in regional Victoria, by Shell, Coles and Hungry Jacks, with state of the art facilities and a dedicated lounge for truck-drivers to rest. In terms of volume, Bunker Hill is expected to be Shell’s largest fuel outlet in Australia.

The site was officially opened by Tim Pallas MP, Minister for Roads and Ports and for Special Projects. In attendance were Russell Caplan, Chairman, Shell Australia Limited, Bob Shergold, National Development Manager for Hungry Jacks and Gary Liddell, CEO of Vicroads. Shell representatives were also on site providing information packages to truck drivers and other motorists.

In terms of challenges, the press conference itself took place on the service station forecourt, on a  hot December day..   As part of Shell Coles Express commitment to safety there were a number of  safety procedures involved in working around highly flammable substances. The service station was also operational at the time of the official launch which presented safety challenges the Ready Set Go team were fully briefed / equipped to handle, including managing traffic of trucks stopping at the site to refuel or pick up lunch from the convenience store.

In spite of these challenges, the launch was a great success, attracting coverage by specialist media and increasing awareness to truck drivers and the general public

Computershare Xmas Family Day 2009

In 2009 Computershare contacted Ready Set Go to help them produce their end of year staff Christmas celebrations.  Looking for a change from the gala dinners that they had hosted in previous years, the idea was to involve not only Computershare staff members but their families as well with a traditional “old style” Family Day.

After investigating a few venues, it was decided that the Collingwood Children’s Farm would be the ideal location to hold the event, just across the road from Computershare’s headquarters.  The place perfectly matched our vision of a country style fair, with activities such as farm tours, animal feeding and pony rides already available on the farm’s beautiful grounds.

Life Be In it provided the children with “old school” games to play like egg and spoon races, sack races, three legged races and jump rope games, while other activities included face- painting, craft workshops and a children’s band. Live entertainment was provided Raggs, Kung Fu Panda, The Wackies and, of course, Santa himself.

Collingwood Children’s Farm Café staff did a wonderful job on the day, catering the event with delicious organic barbeque fare, some of which had been grown on the farm itself.

Heavy rain presented us with a challenge on the day, but we came prepared with waterproof ponchos and Computershare branded umbrellas to hand out to guests.  The entire day proved to be a great success, with staff and their families enjoying a fun and unique experience.
