2010 Myer Christmas Windows Reveal

E-mail Print PDF

The Myer Christmas Windows have been a feature of the Melbourne Christmas landscape since 1956. The six main windows on the Bourke St ground floor facade are transformed each year to portray a Christmas story. Approximately 1 million people from around the world visit the windows each year.

The theme of the windows each year is a closely held secret which generates significant media and public interest.

The windows are launched to the media and public at the beginning of the Christmas shopping season – in 2010 it was Friday 5 November and there were approximately 800 people in attendance.

There were two classes of grades 1/2 from North Melbourne Primary School invited to be the first children to see the windows.  One child took part in the unveiling and walked along with Bernie Brookes, Myer CEO, to officially unveil the windows.  This school was chosen in recognition of their long term support – every year they hold an excursion to see and support the Myer Christmas Windows and this year they were treated like VIPs.

2010 was the 55th year Myer has presented the windows and the second year Myer have contracted Ready Set Go to produce the event.
