On April 22nd 2011 the 80th Good Friday Appeal was held, and Managing Director of Ready Set Go, Dave Deveny was involved for the 17th year running.
It is a unique fundraising event for a very worthy cause that brings together people from all parts of the community. Channel Seven broadcasted live from the Victory Room at Etihad Stadium and around the state for a massive 18 hours of live TV, and they entrust the task of production management for this high profile event to the capable and experienced RSG team. It’s a great honour to be involved in helping produce the telethon for Channel Seven, and helping to raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne.
The job has a really broad scope of responsibility, from construction (this year a new desk and set refurbishment), to design of spaces (including a HUGE green room for the many, many celebrities involved), phone room co-ordination, supplier management, sponsor support, production, planning, scheduling…the list goes on. It is a marathon day at the office but RSG have the team and the experience to get it just right.
It never ceases to amaze how generous people are and how supportive they are of the appeal. In 2011 Australians donated a record $15,156,000…a huge thank you to everyone who supported the appeal and everyone involved in producing this great event.
