On Thursday 24 March 2011 Shell hosted Ferrari F1 driver, Fernando Alonso, on the main stage at Federation Square to welcome him to Melbourne. Ready Set Go staged another flawless public event, seamlessly managing the needs of the VIP guests, the media and the public with ease. Combining these three groups worked wonders…the VIPs drew the crowd, the crowd created the buzz, the media made sure people heard not only about the event but the brands involved in it as well.
The MC, Matthew Barker, conducted a short Q&A with Alonso who then shook hands and had a photo with 2 competition winners from the previous Top Gear Live events. Media were then invited to the stage to watch Alonso drive the simulator one lap around the Albert Park track.
Alonso then departed, and the media then tried the simulator to race against his time.
An F1 showcar was on display as well as 2 Ferrari’s from Prancing Horse which everyone got to see and take photos with. Shell V-Power snappers were on site to hand out flyers and take photos of attendees with the cars which were then available for them to download from the Shell V-Power website.
